A welcoming gastropub with a fine dining flair.

The Venue
The Milestone is in the hub of Kelham Island, surrounded by plush new apartments it’s the perfect venue to catch up with friends or show off your knowledge of the best places to eat in Sheffield. The ambience is chic and trendy, attracting young and old professionals alike.

It may appear small and unassuming on the outside, tucked into a corner of Kelham Island, but once you walk in you know you’re in the one of trendiest locals in the city. There’s beautifully stripped floor boards and comfy seats that aren’t too squashed together allowing you to spread your wings as soon as you arrive. With full wall prints and large blackboards adorning the walls, the pub has an edge when it comes to décor. Overall, it is tastefully decked out. Close to the Shalesmoor tram stop and other bus routes, also walkable from town, it’s very easy to get to.

The People
At The Milestone you are welcomed in by friendly staff, waited on at your table and served with a smile. The bar and restaurant attracts a wide range of customers, from people that live a stone’s throw away from its doors to those prepared to travel far and wide to sample their eclectic and delicious menu. The young professionals that live in Kelham are regulars here, who wants to cook when you can eat such treats every night? Group bookings for birthdays, business get togethers or family catch-ups are common place at The Milestone. The friendly atmosphere keeps on coaxing people to its tables.

The Food
Whether you order from the extensive a la carte menu or go for one of their special offers, you won’t be disappointed. They lay on an early bird menu every day of the week, which comprises of two courses and a glass of wine or a pint for £12. Or, if you want to order from their gastro bar menu you can expect to pay between £4 and £4.95 for a starter and £6.50 and £12.95 for a main course.

From the starter menu, the eggs Benedict are like no other you will have ever had the pleasure to consume. Served up with Milestone’s own bred back bacon, wilted spinach and hollandaise sauce on a muffin, this is seriously good eating.

Looking for something more substantial? The rosemary infused lamb burger is highly recommended. Homemade, the flavours of the meat are enhanced by the herbs and it’s served on homemade bread with chunky rough cut chips, making it an extremely filling meal for just £7.50.

If you want to push the boat out a little further, upstairs there is a formal dining area where you can enjoy a two course meal for £23.95 or three courses for £28.95.

The Drink
Not only do they serve up some of the best food in Sheffield, they lay the red carpet down when it comes to the drinks menu too. On Thursdays they also do a 2-4-1 deal on cocktails so there’s no better day to go down and sample the tasty drinks available. Prices vary from £3.50 for a Bloody Mary to £7 for the more extravagant champagne based ones. The Damson Old Fashioned is particularly good, a mix of bourbon, bitters, orange zest, fresh limes, damson jam and vodka, only one or two of these can be consumed in one sitting, without things getting a little fuzzy around the edges.

Pints of local real ales (three to choose from), and a selection of bottled and draught beers includes Becks Vier, Straropramen, Cruz Campo (draft), Peroni, Cooper Sparkling Ale, Leffe and Guinness. Ales start from £2.30 a pint, while lager is more likely to cost about £2.80.

The Last Word
Make the effort and take a trip here, you will not be disappointed.
