Really glad we went. Took Mrs there for what I was hoping a lovely meal for her Birthday. We wasn't disappointed. Was impressed with basically all of it, the service was fantastic, food very quick to be served and the quality and choice I thought was excellent. didn't bother with a pudding (to full following starter and main) Hock of Ham, and Sea Bream to follow, ordered a little to much side dishes, good choice of wines and drinks, with drinks and meal for two the bill was just over the £80 mark which I do not think was bad considering the amount of double drambuie Ihad and also the bottle of wine and cocktail the other half had. All in all a very nice experience will definately be going again when in the area and recommending to friends if they going to sheffield.

I have to say that I totally disagree with the last 2 reviews!

Silversmiths is one of my favourite restaurants in Sheffield. I have been to their Pie Night twice and the pies were great - we had a fish pie with salmon and prawns and a steak and kidney pie. Pie Night is what it is, the whole idea is that it is good simple food and a simple menu. At £8.50 for the pie and hand cut chips you can't complain... (unless you would rather go to the fish and chip shop for a pukka pie!).

The staff including the managers have always been super friendly and helpful without being too intrusive. The waitresses all seem quite well briefed on the menus which makes a nice change!

Anyway just wanted to post this to support a great independant Sheffield restaurant! :)

Went with a small group from work for pie night. We were very disappointed. The service was bad, as usual. I have been before and the food has always been good so I've let them off with poor service, however, last night the food was not great, not good value for money and the service (from the Manager/owner) was not good. We won't be going back or recommending them again, which is a shame as I like to support local small businesses.

Went to Silversmiths on Saturday after reading all the rave reviews. What a disappointment.

The service was slow, we got given dirty cutlery, and the chicken my partner had was so overcooked, you could have soled shoes with it.

After waiting 20 minutes for the dessert menu, we gave up and paid and left. Will not be going back.

The Pie Night is a must and offers the best veggie pie in the Sheffield area. The food is of good standard and is fresh.

The food tastes clean and is not clogged up with oil or cream unlike most veggie options. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed and its ideal for the lone business traveller (including females) or larger groups.

It offers an excellent choice of drinks and has drinks which not even the likes of the St Pauls carries... which is staying something.

I would recommend a visit whether for Pie Night or otherwise, the food is good and varied.

We went to Silvermsiths on a Friday night. My husband had 2 courses from the al a carte & I had the 3 course £15 special.

Both meals were well prepared with fresh ingredients & were much enjoyed.

The restaurant has a lovely relaxed atmosphere & the staff were attentive & informative.

I have been twice recently to Silversmiths, trying their 'limited menu' at £15 for three courses and the full 'a la carte'.

In both cases the bill was very similar (as were the drinks consumed), so you will not find yourself breaking the bank if you opt for a wider choice range.

In both cases we were impressed by the quality of ingredients and cooking, though we thought that the limited menu on Wed/Thur had the edge.

The advantage no doubt of the kitchen being able to focus on a limited range of preparations.

Mid-week the restaurant was over half full from 6.30 till 10.00, and at the weekend was full from 7.00; testimony to the views of other discerning Sheffield diners.

The reception, service and dining advice was at all times excellent. Gof.
